It's never explained why Brainiac needed Kara, that was simply swept under the rug.

Braniac told Clark in "Actic", "I needed to pretend to be Kara so you wouldn't catch on to what I was doin and screw up my plans". So it was explained.

I gotta say, it was a great episode. The ending was a real cliffhanger as it left me saying "that's it?!?!?!" Can't wait to see how Season 8 pans out. Oh and btw...

IT TOOK 8 FREAKING SEASONS, BUT IT'S FINALLY OVER!!!!! No more Clark and Lana... whew. Don't get me wrong, I liked Lana. Now lets hope he moves on in Season 8 lol.

I hope they have at least one episode of him trying to get over her. Like what they did with Vengeance and Reckoning. I mean it's been seven years! You don't just go "oh well". you know?

That's when 'Kara' came back with Clark from Krypton. I'm talking about Brainiac taking Kara and doing the time warp and going back to Krypton.

I was thoroughly let down by the entire show. We know Michael isn't coming back next season...so to end it the way they did was very unsatisfying. Jimmy proposing to Chloe? We all know how that is going to end...Lana leaving...good thing, Lois comforting Clark...even better...but leaving Clark writhing on the floor of the Fortress as it crumbles around he and Lex??? The season 8 premiere better be "HUGE" or Miller and Gough may not be the only ones joining Michael on the outside of the Smallville circle.

Everything but Jimmy proposing to Chloe was awesome for me.

It is very depressing to think that this was MR's swan song, I agree.

I was a little surprised to see those agents bust in and arrest Chloe. I have to say one of my favorite scenes(not the top one by any means) was when Jimmy confronted Lex. I thought MR did a fantastic job acting Lex's emotions out in this scene. Lex is about to board his plane, he is about to face his destiny. Meanwhile, Pipsqueak is pestering him about how he's not going to lie and he doesn't even do it well. He's right, by the way, how Lois fell for Jimmy's ruse was beyond me and didn't speak very kindly of her sniffing-out-baloney skills. But back to Lex and Jimmy, instead of putting his hand on Jimmy's face and shoving him into a wall so he could get to his plane, he congratulates him on being so honest and leaves him there.

MR's acting in this scene was phenomenal. The resolve on his face, it was almost serene. It was almost like he wasn't even listening to Jimmy, but then he just lets him off the hook. I felt that right there, more than ever, Lex Luthor looked so completely grown up. He was just so calm. I really thought that he didn't care about his little blackmail trick with Jimmy anymore. He had more important things on his mind, like protecting the Earth from the Traveller. If Lex was really the one behind sending those agents after Chloe, then perhaps that's his greatest vulnerability: not being able to let things go.

Evil or Very Mad After all the hype, the waiting and pontificating they end the season making Clark even dumber than ever. You know I really had my hopes up that they would finally start presenting Clark with common sense. They even had me fooled by the kool way that Clark finally dispatched Braniac! Way to go, no BS cut to the chase and finish of the SOB! So he gets to the fortress knowing Lex is going to be there to control or distroy him. What does he do "NOTHING"! Come on now so all of of sudden he is SUPER STUPID instead of SUPERMAN again! What's up with that? With all his powers it did not occur to him to knock the dam object out of Lex's hand using his heat vision, super breath or even what the heck throw a dam super snowball at the idiot instead of listening to the murderous villan whine about how "he loved him like a brother and he's doing to save the world"! What a bunch of crap dialog. Totally unbelievable even for a comic book spin off.

I am sorry but anyone who finds this ending the slightest bit believable I have some swamp land in the artic I would like to sell you! In all honesty what in the world could you find exciting about the last few frames showing Clark with this absolutely stupid dumb founded look on his face as Lex - without any hesitation - destroying him and the fortress. Clark thinking "gosh I really didn't think he'd do that?" or "gosh it was all my fault that he turned out to be such an SOB?".

In all honesty I am a hard core Smallville fan. I've watched each episode at least twice and I've always held out hope that in the end they would show Clark actually learning something. Instead as each season passed they made his interaction with Lex's character absolutely depressing to watch. In all of seven seasons they never once displayed Clark's interaction with Lex as anything but as a total idiot. I mean how many times would a person have to step on your face before you wake up and realize that maybe they are actually trying to hurt you and that they cannot under any circumstance be trusted? Nope not Clark! Even Jesus wouldn't show that much patience.

I for one am glad that Lex's character will finally be gone. I do not think I could have tolerated another episode like this. It's a shame because it was really excellent until the scene at the fortress. From there it went totally downhill. It could have been one of the best episodes if it would have had a different ending at the fortress. At the very least they could have shown a Clark with some brains at least instead of that idiot stare. I am somewhat curious as to what kind of dumb season opener they are going to come up with to explain such a stupid ending...

I loved the season finale. I thought the Brainiac as Kara stuff was great, I probably would not have figured it out if I hadn't read spoilers. I thought Laura Vandervoort did a great job kicking some butt. I really enjoyed Michael Rosenbaum's performance. He did a great job for his last episode. I don't know how they're going to get around him not being in the premiere next season. but it'll be interesting to see. I loved how Chloe, while getting dragged away by the feds is screaming "Call Clark". That had to sound like the craziest thing in the world to Jimmy, but at least he listened this time.

I can't wait until next season. It's gonna be a long summer, but at least I can rewatch the DVDs and listen to SHoE to pass the time.

The only thing that i really liked is the line: "This is a big step up from the barn".
Everything else was BS and disappointing, and kind of seemed like an FU to MR, cause that was not closure for him at all!

Has anyone read Neal Bailey's review of 'Arctic' over at Superman Homepage? It's hilarious, he tore 'Arctic' a new one, and rightly so.

I really really enjoyed this episode a lot. I think it was a great way to tie things together, given that this show has had to drop so many things over the years, due to various unfortunate events.

Can't wait till Season 8!!
