I am happy with this, I'm am always a Clana fan but obviously the direction with her has to change and she can't stay with Clark so I think it will kinda of create more opportunities for Clark not Hero wise just romance and out of the house and not romantically tied down, I'm glad she is going to be a lesser presence. As for Michael Rosenbaum, he is and will always be to me the best Lex Luthor in media, and will be missed but he is and has been the villian for the last 7 years and he has not grown old in character to us yet but I think it would also be better for Clark and for the viewers to spread their wings beyond the Clark-Lex dynamic. More villains...perhaps? It'll be interesting. |

| Quote: | UPDATED 3/5/08: More details, from a source within the studio: Now that Smallville is officially picked up for an eighth season, negotiations will begin with Allison Mack and Michael Rosenbaum, both of whom had contracts which end with Season Seven. No official deals have been signed for them as of yet. Kristin Kreuk will be back for at least part of Season Eight.
Tom Welling, Aaron Ashmore, Laura Vandervoort, Erica Durance, and John Glover are all still signed and expected to return for the show's eighth year. |
Found this on the K-site spoiler page...
So Kristin will be back for a few episodes it seems.
But what I want to point out is that they are in negotiations with Allison Mack as well....which scares me a little, but I'm staying positive. |

I wonder if Clana will forever end by the end of season 7? I mean, how else could they cover her absence? That could be a huge twist coming up- THE DEATH OF CLANA!!!
Hip-Hip... HORAY!! |

Why do people hate Clana so much? It's realistic. It's love. I don't understand... |

I don't hate it, but it does eventually need to move on. Obviously, based on all the Superman lore, Clark and Lana eventually realize that it's just not meant to be between them, and that they're just destined to be great friends. I think they just need to move on and make that happen. |

Understandable, but as I've pointed out before, 9 times out of 10 relationships don't just end. They slowly decline (mainly because one or both of the people involved is in denial). Thats where Clark and Lana are, Lana is coming to terms with the truth that she is holding Clark back and that, while she loves him, she is not meant for him. As Clark is in denial, not allowing himself to see how the relationship is falling apart because he has wanted to be with Lana for years now and he wishes things could go back to the way they were back in "Mortal". It's going to take a little while for him to accept that. He's not going to wake up one day and be like "Well...time to move on!" Ya know? |

Well, this one has been declining for five years now.
It's time for it to be done. And it's ok that it's time. |

If your model of love is the Clana relationship...I feel sorry for you.... |

I feel that its had some bumps in the road, but only started to decline in season 5. What relationship doesn't have its rough patches?

Ok, before this gets out of hand. No, Clana is not my model for Love. Not in the least. But there are very few of us who can say that we haven't been in a relationship that we thought was meant to be, but wasn't. I mean, We all know that Clark is meant for Lois, but that doesn't mean he didn't love Alica or Lana.
Alica didn't work because she died, Lana wont work because the relationship is dying.
Try to look at this from Clark point of view, as well as the viewers; which is more entertaining, seeing the hero think he is right, but knowing he is wrong and seeing him come to terms with that, or seeing the hero always be right.
By no means am I saying that Clana is the ideal relationship. What I am saying is that it is a realistic relationship. |

I totally agree Steve. It's been in the works for the past few seasons. Personally, i'm sick and tired of the on again off again relationship between these two. It's time to lay the groundwork down for Clark to embark on his journey to embracing his true destiny. Season eight will be, in my opinion, the turning point in which Clark realizes his true purpose in this world, and goes into it w/a clear head and not worrying about Lana. |

I agree with you on that fact, Brain (hey where's Pinky? Get it? Pinky and the Brain? No? Nothing? ......ANYWAY) I really hope that season 8 has Clark embracing who he is meant to be, who Jor-El (as well as us) know who he is meant to be. |

no Alman, I disagree, she was cured. Clark loved her as much as she loved him, the only reason it didn't work was because of her death. |

I totally agree with that! I liked the Clark/Alicia relationship. I liked that the writers gave that serious consideration...
and then she got in the way of Clana drama and they had to kill her. |
