I honestly don't think it's right. While it's been a sure thing that Routh wouldn't be Superman in the Justice League, Man of Steel is his. THe problem is that with the writers' strike putting everything on hold, there is a lack of news, so people are taking small blurbs and running with them.

There's already an update posted saying the original rumor is completely false and that Brandon will be returning in the next movie "...if they make another stand-alone SUPERMAN film..."

It's the "if they make another" portion of that article that bothers me. Ugh! Confused

Brandon Routh is going to be Superman again. Its in his contract to do two more Superman movies regardless of what happens because of the strike. Its Brian Singer who might not return for the second Superman.

I agree. Routh did an excellent job as both Clark Kent and Superman. Hats off to Singer for casting him. as for the MOS in turmoil, does the infamous "Superman Curse" rear it's ugly head yet again?

I remember hearing Routh in interviews talking about the curse before Superman Returns. He said something like 'if I didn't get the job I would have believed in it, but I get to play Superman, how can that be a curse? I'm not worried about it.'

I was sold on him playing Supes after that.

I agree, Routh was a tremendous Superman. Here's hoping MOS starts picking up a little more steam sooner rather than later...

Has there been any more news on Singer's return to the sequel?

The bigger question is whether they're going to let Derek write the script. Very Happy

Paid for by the committee to elect Derek Russell for Superman pen ship.

I'd say we could start a huge campaign to write to DC and WB about it, but I wouldn't want to do anything to annoy them where you're concerned. We want this to be a positive thing, not negative.

I just came across this bit of news over at IESB.net regarding Superman: Man of Steel

At the same time, we also been hearing sources at WB Burbank who believe that The Man of Steel is picking up speed and since the strike ended various "A" list writers have gone in with promising pitches. Bryan Singer is still attached and the studio big wigs are still counting on him directing the sequel.
