You know I was wondering why don't you guys do a podcast episode comparing Superman Returns to the Original Superman movie. It would be great to here you guys compare the scenes in both movies to see which was better. Besides the obvious fact about Christopher Reeve and it being the first Superman movie. I think it would be great. |

Best Old Skool Moment of Superman Returns:
"....statistically speaking it's still the safest way to travel"
I got goosebumps in the theater when I heard that. |

Thats why I said their should be a podcast episode to compare the two. Both have great moments and I think Superman Returns passed the first Superman in greatest. Thats my opinion. It would be great to hear. |

Sorry, not a fan of Superman Returns because I thought it got too caught up in the story of Clark and his kid, rather than in the action. I have only watched it once, but I'm pretty sure that the trailer had 95% of the action that was in the film!
Wasn't a fan of all of the casting, or the story they were trying to convey.
Having said that, I think that the casting of Luthor and Jimmy were great |

I agree on the casting. They should have gotten another person to do Lois Lane. I didn't like Kate Bosworth or whatever way you spell it as Lois Lane. That really put a damp on it. I loved the action in Superman Returns. It told a story of a man who was trying to redeem himself after leaving his city. But I hated the fact they put Lex Luthor as the villian again. I'm tired of seeing this guy. You see thats why you got to give Marvel get for their movies. Marvel likes to take big risks unlike DC. I mean we have seen Silver Surfer, Galactus (regardless of if he was trully a cloud or they were saving his true form for another movie), Dark Phoenix, Juggernaut, Venom, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, almost all the
X-men, Spiderman, Daredevil, Hulk, Kingpin, Bullseye, about to see Ironman, and now Ironman. Marvel is putting out there best while DC is sitting on their butt. DC can't even tie their shoes right. DC could have done so many things with Superman Returns. Brian Singer could have made the villian Darkseid, Metallo, Brainac, hell even Lobo, Mongul, and others. But it seems anybody who get their hands on Superman to direct doesn't want to take any chances. |

Well imho, I wasn't a huge fan of it. I thought they had elements and got pieces really right, but as a whole (to me) it failed to do what it meant to do.
Brandon Routh obviously studied Chris Reeve's performance but he just didn't have the same charisma and appeal that Reeve did.
I agree on Bosworth, ambitious is fine, but somehow she just is annoying.
I didn't have a problem with the kid angle though. And while Spacey did an ok job of scene chewing, and the scene where he stabs Supes with kryptonite was awesome, the whole over the top krypton continent just struck me as pointless.
As to the Marvel/DC thing... uhm just to point out. There's more than just the comic company's opinions going on here. Studios have quite alot to say about the topic. |
