Chris Reeve was the Superman of my childhood. He will always be Superman to me. That being said, I respect the work of all the others. I thought Brandon Routh was a great successor to the role on the big screen and Tom Welling plays a great Clark Kent.
I remember being young and going to see Superman and Superman II and being in awe. Then I saw Superman III and Superman IV, I still enjoyed them but it wasn't the same as I & II. |

Routh did an excellent job as stepping in the role of Superman. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Superman Returns. As for Reeves, that was way before my time. I have seen some of the episodes though, and I think he did a good job, for that era. Lois & Clark, I just could never get into that show. I don’t know why. I gave it so many chances, at times forcing myself to sit through episodes because of the sole fact that I was a Superman fan. But I hated the show, and have accepted the fact that although I am a huge Superman fan, I hate this show. Tom Welling, come on now. This guy just has it! But when it comes down to having to choose one, Christopher Reeve made me believe a man could fly. Reeve will and always be “Superman.” |

Actually Bud Collyer is the true original. He was the voice of Superman in the old radio show and in the first cartoon.
why isn't he on the list? |

And if we're going that direction, why not go ahead and add Kyle McLaughlin who voice Supes in New Frontier and did an amazing job. |

If we are going to get that technical, we need to mention Patrick Warburton. He was the voice of Superman in the Jerry Seinfeld AMEX commercial.

Chris Reeve will always be my Superman as he was the man wearing the cape all through my childhood. He brought a humanity to the role that wasn't portrayed before and I think that made the character stronger in the end.
Routh was good but it was a copy of Reeve. Not that it's a bad thing but I agree that he needs a few more movies to really call the character his own.
Welling is doing a great job as Clark and I think he might be my number two when it comes down to it.
The guys from the Superboy show both did great jobs and each one did the character differently.
I would have to say that so far I have not seen a poor Superman in the mass media and for that I think we are all lucky.
Plus a shout out has to be given to the guys who braved the costume first. |

I think Supes in animated form can do anything. Special effects costs are no concern. I loved the Animated Series. No doubt the great Christopher Reeve will win, as he should, but I had to give some love to the cartoon. |

Wow, am I really the only one who voted for George Reeves? Come on, guys! Steve, I was expecting you, of all people, to be with me on this! George Reeves is, to me, the one and only Superman. This was my childhood. As much as everyone loves Chris Reeve, I never liked those movies much. They changed so much. Clark Kent was never as bumbling as Reeve portrayed him. I prefer the intelligent and capable, yet mild-mannered Clark Kent portrayed by Bud Collyer and George Reeves. George is Superman. Period. |

I voted for Christopher Reeve. But, speaking of technicalities & with Tim Daly on the list, what about George Newbern or Danny Dark? I grew up watching the Super Friends even though they were kid friendly & extremely corny. |
