What an episode...
The krypton scenes were the best. Its a shame that Martha and Johnathan were not in the episode that would have made it that much better. The look on Clark's face when he saw Lex in the loft was priceless. |

Perhaps it's just me, but somehow tonight's episode is cropped more than usual. I can't even see the "Lau" in Laura Vandervoort in the credits. Plus, the small amount of black bars on the top and bottom of the screen are absent as well. At least they didn't crop the CW logo...
About the episode: it's one of the larger scale. While watching the scenes that were "shot in space" (te.g. he Red Sun, Krypton exploding with baby Kal-El's ship barely escaping.), I could've sworn that I was watching a Superman movie. Plus, the revival of the past nuclear war shots brought me back several years (Ooh, how I loved "Hourglass". And the music that was played when Clark's putting the pint-sized version of himself into the ship was just phenomenal.
Overall, I think this is the most theatrical episode yet. And kudos to Tom Welling for directing such a great episode! |

At first I was a little apprehensive about the episode, mainly because of the talk between Clark and Chloe at the beginning. But that all changed when Clark ACTUALLY LEARNED A LESSON FROM JOR-EL, wow, stop the presses here people. Also, it was freakin' awesome when we got to see Krypton blowing up. |

Why does Brainiac always get SPIKED?
GET IT?! "SPIKED"
anyway...
This was a good episode.
Best Scene: Clark in Suit and Glasses
Worst: Pacing of the final Krypton scene. As awesome as it was, it felt out of place. WTF, now we're on krypton?!
but i do say...
"Well this is the best christmas ever"

Are you sure you didn't hit the "video format" button on your remote? It alters the aspect ratio. Changes between formats like widescreen, stretched, and normal. I've done that sometimes.. |

I wonder where Jor-El and Lara were during the battle on Krypton? Maybe busy fighting off Zod and co. or did Brainiac kill them too in this version of the timestream? |

Me too. I was also wondering about Clark's earliest memories, as seen in Memoria. If this is now how it happened, then do his earliest memories change from being placed in the ship by Jor-el and Lara to being placed in the ship by himself? Because this is now how it happened; that past was changed, correct? (But if that is the truth then it would cause a ripple affect into the conversation that he had with Martha at the end of that ep, and who knows what else.)
whether it changed or not, it is very interesting to think about. |

I liked the episode, but I'm still reserving Descent as the all-time favorite. There were things about it that just threw me a bit - the Lois-to-Clark attraction in a way seemed a bit out of sorts - i.e., shouldn't Clark have more wooing feelings towards her than the other way around?
And the "meanwhile, back on Krypton" deal... so the Fortress could have sent Clark back to Krypton all this time - all during Clark's pining over his history, his parents, etc. - and only now he finds out.
And Lex with the black glove - wasn't that due to him losing his hand over wearing a Kryptonite ring for years, as a precaution to dealing with Supes? Would he have needed the glove for Kara? After all, she felt he was "like a brother" to her, so no animosity there. Since he had the specially-constructed K-bullets as a "just-in-case", was the ring then necessary?
Sorry, I know I'm being nit-picky. I really do think Tom did an amazing job - I enjoyed watching. Just pointing out some ???? in my own head. |

Damn, this was a good episode. That Richard Donner just keeps getting his homages in this television series. The return to Krypton was cool. It was an excellent display of the planet & the red sun. I also wondered where Jor-El & Lara were & why baby Kal-El was alone with Brainiac & Supergirl. It reminded me a lot of that "Lois & Clark" episode where Tempus was trying to kill baby Superman & Lois & HG Wells were there to assist.
I just wish that I didn't read the spoliers for the season finale because of what we saw happening to Kara at the end of this episode. That laugh from Brainiac in the Krypton fight was a dead give away of some sinister doing. Hopefully Clark will man up & finally begin to take some of Jor-El's advice so it can lead to a huge action packed battle. And as for the weird way of Lois meeting Clark in the alternate universe, was this supposed to be like Earth 78 (or something of the sort like in the comics)?
And where is that Martian at when you need his help? I guess he is kicking back, eating his Oreos..... |

Someone mentioned that Clark may not have his memories of his parents on Krypton sending him out.
Well if you look at time with different dimensions, Clark is in his own right now, he intersected with a dimension of time that was him as a baby redoing everything that happened but this time Brainiac was involved. So the Clark Kent that was saved on Krypton in "Apocalypse" will have vague memories of one person putting him in the ship rather than two and since clark is supposed to look like Jor-El he'll have memories of "Jor-El". This Clark is living his own time line and will remember what happened.
Just my theory, and it is flawed because if the past he has isn't affected by the baby then how can the baby's death destroy the present Clark? It's pretty complicated; time. If anyone has any theories on this, share em, time is such a hard concept. And for the FOS being Krypton, why make a whole other set when they have this one to use if they change it up a bit. They convinced me it was another place during the insane scene so I think they did an outstanding job. Amazing episode. perfect 10/10 |
