Hmm. If the show wasn't set to end after season 8, it should after essentially being dragged down another "Jason and Genevieve Teague" or "Adam Knight" road. Yes I know the continuity is finally being revealed with the whole "Traveler" storyline as far as the Teagues are concerned. But this Davis dude sounds like another Adam Knight situation to me, and "Tess"? - all I hear is "MR's Lex Luthor substitute" ringing in my ears, not Ms. Teschmacher.
I'm fearful I hear the premature *thud* of the heads of the writers essentially banging into the wall - and we're not even out of season 7 yet.
Yeah, I know I'm negative (lol) but it just sounds so disappointing after everything that season 7 has been. |

I am disappointed with the rumors I have heard about Doomsday and Tess. I think Superman has a lot of Rogues to choose from and even if DC won't let them use big names (Metallo for example), then there is always INTERGANG. I dont know, I guess it could turn out good but I am not excited about these characterizations. |

Glad to know someone else feels kinda the same as me. |

So, let me get this straight? The Doomsday coming to Smallville will not only bring destruction & havoc, but will also be able to make mojitos & vodka martinis? Hmmm....? At least he'll have some personality. I'll be optimistic & give the writers a chance..... |

I kinda have my reservations about Doomsday, but, as a few others have pointed out, I've been wrong before about characters appearing on Smallvile (Lois, Zod). I kinda like the idea though that it won't be the knuckle alien. I mean in a sense, didn't we already have a superbad, super tough alien who (darn near) killed Clark on Smallville already (Titan)?
The Tess character sounds more appealing, but (and I KNOW I'll be in the minority here...lol) I hope it is not Ms Tessmacher. I personally never saw the deal with her character in the movies anyway (though I can't say I didn't enjoy the whole "MS TESSMACHER!!!" bit from Gene Hackman, but then again he played a great Lex for the character then). If she is, then I'm hopeful they'll make her character enjoyable.
Kinda off subject, but since "Doomsday" is gonna be a bartender, and they have the Ace of Clubs, does this mean we're gonna see my boy Bibbo? I just think it would be cool to possibly see Bibbo meet his future "fav'rit" superhero for the first time. |

Well, I know the Ace o' Clubs we've seen so far is VERY different from the little hole in the wall burger/bar in Suicide Slums that Bibbo runs. I'm thinking this is just a nod to the comics, and not necessarily a direct tie-in to the future club Bibbo runs. |

I have read many theories with regards as to "what" Doomsday will look like during his time on Smallville. Fans of the book remember where Doomsday came from...Krypton...and was a creation of multiple Kryptonian experiments in the quest to create the perfect being. What they ended up creating was something that had no weakness, a thirst for blood and destruction of all things Kryptonian. His journey to Earth was a long and interesting one...laying waste to one civilization after another...including a run in with Darkseid himself. It wasn't until the entire royal family of the planet Calaton...which was all but destroyed by Doomsday, then known as "The Ultimate"...combined their energy to create The Radiant which was beileived to have killed Doomsday and launched his remains into space...when his casket crashed into earth it was buried deep under ground and somehow he was resurrected. Regardless...with the liberties that Miller & Gough have taken with the story of Kal El up until this point...Doomsday could look like nothing more than a thorny Michael Clark Duncan ( I liked that suggestion ) and not the immense destructive force that eventually kills Superman much later. It does create a bit of a time flux...and with this show having no plans on evolving into the next "Superman" series...it doesn't matter what happens in "Smallville". I for one...am a diehard Superman fan...I didn't join the ranks of the Smallville faithful until the third season...but I love the show and I will miss it when it is gone.
Thanks for Your Time...

Now that I've been thinking about it...
Doomsday's comic book origin is the same as Bizarro's Smallville origin... |

You are correct, hence the changes to his introduction in "Smallville".
I only hope we can expect a knock-down, drag-out fight between Clark and Doomsday that lasts an entire episode. |

Well, that's not 100% true. I did a Superman website as part of a school project. But here's the basic synopsis I did on Doomsday - remember the scientist that created Doomsday was NOT Kryptonian.
************************
Doomsday is the result of cloning experiments by an alien named Bertron in order to create the "perfect warrior."
Bertron discovered a planet (250,000 years later we know it to be Krypton) with a primitive life form which he uses in his experiments. He leaves the creature to survive in the elements, and each time it dies, he re-clones a new subject from the DNA collected from the corpse. Eventually the creature gets progressively stronger and better able to adapt, until it finally turns on Bertron and kills him before escaping Krypton.
Eventually the creature was captured and imprisioned by members of the Green Lantern Corps, and jetisoned into space. The creature's prison cell finds its way to earth, where it crashes, and remains buried for millennia until Doomday finally breaks free to wreak havoc once more.
Superman and Doomsday fight a titanic battle in which they are both seemingly killed. Luckily, the Man of Steel lives, but unfortunately, so does Doomsday...
************************
Anywho... as I said before, I'm sure Smallville will do a unique take on the big guy, and probably mostly just a nod to the Comic Book horror, and nothing like the Comic Book Doomsday, just as Mr. Myx wasn't at all like the comics.
That's my 2 cents. |

Very well done Raife. You have obviously done your homework and done it well. You are very correct about the alien who arrived on Krypton and conducted the experiments that eventually led to the creation of The Ultimate...which later became the one we now know as Doomsday. You are also correct about the fact that neither he nor Kal El actually died after their epic battle. I am extremely interested though as to how they will present him "physically" on the show. How will he appear...or in simpler terms "what will he look like" and I guess that will depend on the timeline and where he is within his development physically. I also thought of another actor that could play the role in case Michael Clark Duncan is not available... He is a big, monsterous physical specimen and he has played a role on the show before...David Batista. I know Dave personally and I have asked him if he would ever return to the show and he is completely "IN" if they call. I think with the proper prostetics...and a little help in the CG department (but not too much) they could have the makings of a pretty big television event. As I mentioned on another thread here on Starkville...I was very disappointed with the ending of "Arctic" and they are going to need to bring something very big to kick off next season or they are doomed. And, thank you Mosedog...I think I have found a place I can stay for sometime and I look forward to reading everyones entries...kind of feels like Krypton here...and that is a good thing, a very good thing.

On the Comic Con podcast of SHOE Derek described what happened in the trailer for Season 8. Specifically he says that the guy playing Doomsday is in the street alone and shaking and you hear Chloe's voice saying that there is something out there that can kill Clark (referring to Doomsday). So is it safe to think that they are going to do some kind of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde type situation with him and Doomsday? Or will it be like a one time change to Doomsday? |

I bet it will start off as a Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde thing but after so many transformations or after Clark messes with him, he gets stuck in his Doomsday form. |
